Tracking Golden Monkeys in Volcanoes National Park Rwanda
Trekking the golden monkeys is an exciting adventure that will give you an impressive coincidence with these wonderful species of monkeys that are known as the golden Monkeys. These have also got a protruding golden fur coat, and this also adds to their allure and is so lovely just to look at and gives excellent photography. Visit a group of golden monkeys in Rwanda filled with famous gorilla watching and is mostly done as an additional activity to gorilla trekking within Volcanoes National Park.
These are also very endangered and are also limited to the Virunga mountains shared by Rwanda, Uganda, and the Democratic Congo Republic, these are the only countries where tourists can get a chance to track and see them up close. Golden monkeys live in bamboo forests at the far base of the Parc National Des Volcans in Rwanda. They feed on the bamboo shoots and there are two habituated troops here, and the large troop is called Sabyinyo with 80 to 100 members and this one is the most visited group. Each permit to visit the golden monkeys in Rwanda costs US$100 per person and there is no limit on the number of persons to visit these troops per day like it is with the mountain gorillas. Additionally, there is no age limit on the golden monkey tracking as it is with the gorilla tracking experience!
The tourist should assemble at the park headquarters for registration and briefing from the rangers about the activity of the golden monkey safari in Rwanda, and later drive to the trekking start point in our 4×4 vehicles. and this takes only 15 minutes away from the edge of the park.
These monkeys will also be found since they mostly live at the bottom of the Volcano Mountains within the bamboo forest.
They are so delightful for the photography and the flash is allowed yet not allowed for other primate species, like the gorillas and chimpanzees. Golden monkeys also love the camera flashes and also lovemaking out of the park into the open potato fields in order.
This trek is less active in Volcanoes National Park and the monkeys also live on the floor of the mountain within the bamboo forest and the terrain is also flat and easy to hike. One must be physically fit to hike into the jungle to see these creatures in their natural environment. What to carry while participating in the trek also includes; hiking shoes, drinking water, a rain jacket, and a camera with a flash.
