Explore East Africa and its Beautiful National Parks in a two-week safari to Kenya and Tanzania
Kenya and Tanzania offer a unique combination of the most amazing national parks, hosting the highest wildlife density, especially in the Serengeti and Masai Mara, along with stunning landscapes. Day 1: Arrival at Jomo Kenyatta National Park
Upon arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi, you will find that an agent from 4×4 Self Drive Kenya Ltd already waiting for you just there at the airport you will inspect the car, do the paperwork, and sign the car rental agreement. After everything is set you will be ready to start your 14-day self-drive safari in Kenya and Tanzania. Depending on the time you arrive in the country you may start by visiting the Karen Blixen Museum or the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust’s Elephant Orphanage before you continue to your hotel in Nairobi.
Day 2: Transfer to Amboseli National Park
The day will start with a heavy breakfast at the hotel and you get ready to leave behind the bustling Nairobi city and drive 210km heading to the south to Amboseli National Park. The park is found on the foothill of Mount Kilimanjaro, offering an amazing view of Africa’s highest peak. In the afternoon after lunch, you will visit a Maasai village to learn more about their nomadic lifestyle and the natural medicines they use, derived from local trees and shrubs.
Day 3: Exploring Amboseli National Park
Day 3 of your self-drive safari will be dedicated to exploring Amboseli National Park it will start with a hearty breakfast at the lodge and then embark on a game drive in the park where you get a chance to encounter a lot of amazing animals like lions, hippos, wildebeests, elephants, zebras, hyenas and many others. The day will be full of wildlife watching set against an amazing landscape.
Day 4: Transfer to Tsavo National Park
Today after a hearty breakfast you will hit the road and transfer to Tsavo National Parks and we will choose the western part of the park. The lava rock formations of the Mzima Springs and the Shetani lava flows create a stunning and rugged wilderness in Tsavo West National Park. The savannah ecosystem includes open grasslands, bushlands, acacia woodlands, riverine vegetation belts, and rocky ridges.
Day 5: Explore Tsavo West National Park
On the 5th day of this safari, you will enjoy the whole day in Tsavo West National Park where you will visit the poacher’s lookout, where you will get a chance to see the bustling herds in the plains below. The park offers an amazing wildlife-watching experience with animals like elephants, rhinos, hippos, lions, cheetahs, leopards, buffalo, various plant species, and birds such as the rare and endangered corncrake and Basra reed warbler. You will return to the lodge in the evening to enjoy the sunset.
Day 6: Day to Cross to Tanzania
After a good breakfast in Tsava West, you will hit the road through Tsavo and Voi through the Tarakea border to cross to Tanzania and proceed towards Lake Chala Lodge. The lodge is found above the Crater Lake and your stay at the lodge offers an amazing view of the lake.
Day 7: Explore Mount Kilimanjaro the Northern Part
Today you can wake up with a refreshing swim in Lake Chala and later you get breakfast before you get ready to start your day tour in the northern part of Mount Kilimanjaro. This route will take you through a small village which is less visited by tourists where you will get a chance to associate with the locals learn more about their living and even visit the local school. In the afternoon, you will proceed to the Olpopongi Maasai Cultural Village where you get a comprehensive knowledge about the Maasai people and learn more about their history and natural medicine. Following this, you will proceed to your lodge at the edge of Arusha National Park.
Day 8: Explore Arusha National Park
This morning after breakfast, you have a short drive to the Arusha National Park entrance at the bottom of Mount Meru and as soon as you enter the park, you will start the game drive where you will get a chance to see a variety of animals like zebras, buffaloes, giraffes, and there is a chance of spotting Colobus monkeys in the thick bushes of the Ngurdoto Crater.
Day 9: Transfer to Tarangire National Park
On this day, you will wake up early in the morning for breakfast and then get ready to leave Arusha National Park with an en-route game drive through the park as you head to Tarangire National Park and enter the northern park entrance. From there another en-route game drive began in Tarangire National Park where you will get a chance to see a lot of elephant herds and various other animal species. In case you are a lucky visitor, there is a chance of seeing lions and leopards; giraffes and zebras will cross your path alongside the elephants. You will spend the night at a lodge inside the park.
Day 10: Explore Tarangire National Park and transfer to Lake Manyara National Park
After a heavy breakfast at the lodge, you will get ready for a morning game drive in the Terangira National Park later you will transfer back to the lodge for lunch and then get ready to Lake Manyara National Park which is found in just approximately 110km from Terangira national park at the bottom of the Great East African Rift Valley. With some luck, you may be able to see the tree-climbing lions. The sparsely vegetated plain near Lake Manyara provides an unobstructed view of the natural spectacle, featuring baboons, giraffes, zebras, hippos, and numerous elephants. In the evening, you’ll return to the lodge, where you can enjoy a stunning sunset from a hilltop.
